Biographical Notes

Fr T.J. Linane, From Abel to Zundolovich, Vol. 2: Biographies of Priests on the Australian Scene up to 1900, 1980, p 138:

Delmonte, Francesco, O.F.M., Italian
In the Franciscan Necrology issued in 1965, and edited by Father Ambrose Ryan O.F.M., a note on p.8 is made on Francesco Delmonte ....
"Observant of the Bolognese Province he laboured for 16 years in New Zealand. He had arrived in Auckland in 1860 and because of the shortage of priests he stayed after the Mission was closed in 1873, working several years in the Christchurch Diocese. Zeal later took him to Colombo." Shipping records (Latrobe Library, Melbourne) indicate his passing through Melbourne in late 1873.
