Personal Notes, Windsor and Richmond Gazette, 29 August 1956, p 10, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article256356332:
Rev. Father John Walsh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Walsh, of Richmond, has been spending a short vacation with his parents prior to leaving for Rome, where he will undertake a course of studies at St. Peter's College, having been specially selected by His Eminence Cardinal Gilroy for that distinction. Thus he has followed in the footsteps of another former Richmond resident, Rev. Father Clancy, in going to Rome for further studies—making a 100 per cent. record for Richmond so far—and a host of Richmond and district friends wish him every success in his advanced studies and a very happy and fruitful overseas experience generally.
