Funeral of Father O'Donohœ, Freeman's Journal, Sydney, 2 April 1864, p 3, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article128802803:

The Rev. Joseph Francis O'Donohoo, died on Tuesday at Miss Doyle's Church Hill, of consumption, from which fatal malady he had been suffering for several months previous to his death. The reverend deceased was a native of Cork, and was only twenty seven years of age when it pleased the Almighty to take him to himself. He was ordained on 3rd August 1860, and sailed for Melbourne almost immediately afterwards; upon his arrival there he was appointed to his first mission at Kilmore. After labouring for three years in the diocese of Victoria, his health became so delicate that he was not able to fulfil the duties of his holy office. He remained in Melbourne until June last, when thinking that change of air might arrest the progress of the diseases he came to Sydney, arriving here on the 25th of the same month. His case was however beyond remedy and after lingering for the last nine months rallying occasionally against the slow but certain progress of the disease he at length yielded up his soul into the hands of his Creator. His funeral took place on Thursday afternoon from St. Patrick's church, where the funeral service was performed by his Grace the Archbishop, assisted by Fathers Curley, Conway, Crohan, Dwyer, Ford, Garvey and Powell. His Grace, the clergy present and the members of the Holy Guild in procession, afterwards followed the body to the cemetery, where it was consigned to the dust from which it sprung, and the office for the burial of the dead having been recited the ground closed over the mortal remains.

ANZCC note: This priest is listed twice in Southerwood: A Prayer-Calendar of Deceased Priests & Deacons in Australia 1788-2009, compiled by W.T. Southerwood, Sixth Edition, 2009:
p 65: Joseph F. O'Donoghue, died 25 May 1875, Melbourne diocese;
p 144: Joseph O'Donoghue, no date of death, Kilmore Vic
The National Council of Priests database, at https://www.catholicdirectory.com.au/deceasedclergy/list/name [as at April 2026] also had two entries for him:
29 Mar 1864, Rev Joseph F O'Donoghue, Archdiocese of Melbourne
25 May 1875, Rev Joseph O'Donoghue, Kilmore, Vic
No person by the name Joseph O'Donohue died in either NSW or VIC in 1875. The obituary in the Freeman's Journal on 2 April 1864 confirms 1864 as the correct year of death.
