Biographical Notes

Death of Monsignor J. Mulcahy, The Courier-Mail, Brisbane, 30 November 1940, p 5, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article44913384:

Monsignor J. Mulcahy. who died in Brisbane yesterday, had been parish priest of Mackay for the last 28 years. He was born in Ireland. Monsignor Mulcahy was an energetic worker for his church, and the Mater Misericordiae Hospital at Mackay, and various parish convents were the result of his zealous work. Although he took no part in ordinary public affairs he was a keen bowler.

Expressing his regret at the death of Monsignor Mulcahy, the Premier (Mr. Forgan Smith) said that he had met him first when he went to Mackay as parish priest, and always had regarded him as a friend. He was well known and widely respected in the Mackay district. His loss would be felt severely.
