New Caledonia
He was born in Nièvre, France in 1839. He was professed in 1863. At the age of 26 he arrived in New Caledonia, in 1866. For 60 years he worked there especially in the service of the Nengone people, both on Mare, and also on the Isle of Pines, to where he accompanied his people into a five year exile, following a persecution on Mare by a strong protestant party. He is the founder of the Catholic church in Mare. He died there at the age 87, after 63 years of Marist life.
