Father Leonard, one of the Passionist Fathers, opened a week's mission in the [...] church on Sunday at the 11 o'clock mass. The sitting accommodation was taxed to the utmost both morning and evening. Services were held each morning and evening during the week. Father Leonard is being assisted by the Rev. Father Lloyd of Armidale. So far, we are informed, the missionary priest is well satisfied at the way the mission is being attended, and expresses the hope that every Catholic in the district will make an effort to attend the mission, which close on Sunday night with a special sermon and benediction. His Lordship, Bishop O'Connor, will administer the sacrament of confirmation on Sunday. --- Catholic Mission Services, The Campbelltown Herald, 11 May 1904, p 2, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article102474230: The Rev. Father Leonard, of the Passionist Order, on Sunday morning last conducted the first service in connection with a week's mission which he is giving in St. John's Church, Campbelltown. the decision to hold the mission was hurriedly arrived at, so that notice in advance could not be given the parishioners. The services which have so far been held, however, indicate that the cause is not suffering on this account. Up to date the daily Masses (7 and 9 o'clock) and the evening services have been attended by uniformly large congregations, who follow the able discourses of the missioner with rapt attention. Father Leonard, who has thus so far been encouraged in his work, will during the week continue the services at the hours set out above, and will bring the mission to a close on Sunday next. --- R.C. Church, The Inverell Times, 18 May 1904, p 2, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article185908689: The Mission in connection with the blessing and opening of the new Sacred Heart Church, Inverell, to be conducted by the Rev. Father Leonard, C.P., will commence on Sunday next, May 22nd. The opening sermon will be delivered immediately after the 11 o'clock Mass (Missa Cantata.) On Sunday evening a special sermon will be delivered by this well-known Missioner. The Mission will be continued for two weeks closing on Sunday evening, June 5th. On the closing Sunday of the Mission, His Lordship the Right Rev. Dr. O'Connor, Bishop of the Diocese, will be present for the purpose of blessing and opening the new stately church and administering the sacrament of confirmation. Many priests in and outside of the Diocese have promised to attend. We have been asked to say all denominations are invited to the Mission and to the opening. --- The Gossip of the Week, Freeman's Journal, Sydney, 5 June 1919, p 19, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article115583566: The Rev. Father Leonard, the well-known Passionist, of Adelaide, was farewelled by the parishioners of Parkside prior to his departure for England on a health trip. The departing priest was handed a wallet of notes from the parishioners, and a wristlet watch by the Children of Mary. --- T.W. Campbell, The Priests of the Diocese of Armidale: A Necrology, Braddon ACT, 2005: Listed in E J Doody, Acta et Statuta 1951, Appendix VI, Obituary List, in the section headed 'supplementary list of priests who have also worked in the diocese', but with no details other than the period he reputedly worked in the diocese, in this case 1904.
