Memorial, Mount Street Cemetery, Wellington:

Father Michel Borjon was born on 24 September 1811 in Arbigny, near Lyon, France, was ordained on 16 July 1837, and made his religious profession in 1839. He set out for New Zealand in December 1840, with fellow Marist missionaries Frs Séon, Garin, and Rozet, and M. Jean-François Yvert [who is interred in this Cemetery]. From August 1841 he was stationed at Maketu. Then in 1842 Bishop Pompallier allotted to him a new mission—Port Nicholson [Wellington], where he was to be the first parish priest.[...]
It was not to be. On 1 August 1842 Fr Borjon and Br Déodat embarked on the schooner Speculator in Auckland, and 12 August left Whitianga for Wellington. They never arrived. A storm ensued, and wreckage from the ship was later found on the East Coast.
