Biographical Notes
Fr Frank Cresp, Good and Faithful Servants: Recalling the Spirit of the Deceased Priests of the Diocese of Port Augusta and Port Pirie 1888-2008, 2008:
Walsh, Francis V J, DD
Born: 3/2/1904 in Wardell, NSW.
Propaganda College.
Ordained: 22/12/1928 in Rome.
Worked in Peterborough 1931-33, 1937-43, 1945-55; Port Pirie 1934-37. Army Chaplain 1943-45; Loxton 1956-61 ; Port Lincoln 1961-64; Renmark 1964-73.
During his time at Peterborough he was part-time Bishop's secretary and Diocesan Inspector of Schools.
As an Army Chaplain he served at Loveday Internment Camp and in East Timor.
Died: 9/9/1973. Buried in Renmark Cemetery.
Gave up smoking at the Annual retreat and died suddenly at Renmark after playing golf with fellow Priests. 'Darby' - a bit rough around the edges but a sincerely dedicated Priest. Very devoted to his family in NSW.
