Biographical Notes

Fr T.J. Linane, From Abel to Zundolovich, Vol. 1, 1979, pp 22-23:

Baugh, Patrick Joseph, Rt. Rev., Irish
He Baptised Cardinal Gilroy

b. Virginia, Co. Cavan 1868; ed. All Hallows; ord. 1892; served in Syd. at Cathedral, Kogarah, St. Benedict's, Broadway, where he baptised Norman Thomas Gilroy; Milton, Araluen, Golden Grove, Cooma - where he built presbytery - Picton, living at Appin. He was the last resident to live at Appin (which has recently regained its status as a parish under Rev. T.J. Whitty MSC of Douglas Park). Later Baugh was at Lewisham; then P.P. Haberfield from 1910 until his death on 10.1.1935. In later years he carried out many diocesan chores: Diocesan Consultor and Assessor; Deputy to Archbishop Kelly in financing the seminaries at Springwood and Manly; Board of Management for St. Gabriel's Castle Hill. He was made a Monsignor in 1929 and actually retired in 1932. Many living priests, especially Rev. F. Mecham, Lindfield, can speak of his splendid qualities and whimsies. The age was 65 and the burial place, Rookwood.
