Biographical Notes

Fr T.J. Linane, From Abel to Zundolovich, Vol. 2: Biographies of Priests on the Australian Scene up to 1900, 1980, p 16:

Callaghan, Irish
Apart from a reference to him in Goold correspondence we can say nothing more than he was stationed at the early St. Patrick's College, East Melbourne, in 1859, and that that he was victim of a neurosis. Even the Christian eludes the searcher.
(Footprints, Vol. 1, No. 12)

Possibly the same person:
T.W. Campbell, The Priests of the Diocese of Armidale: A Necrology, Braddon ACT, 2005:
Callaghan, [?]

Listed in E J Doody, Acta et Statuta 1951, Appendix VI, Obituary List, in the section headed 'supplementary list of priests who have also worked in the diocese', but with no details other than the period he reputedly worked in the diocese, in this case 1876.
None of the available references list a priest by this name or somebody closely resembling this name living and working in New South Wales at about this time. The source that resulted in Bishop Doody's listing is unknown.
