Biographical Notes
Fr T.J. Linane, From Abel to Zundolovich, Vol. 1, 1979, p 26:
Bixio, Joseph, SJ, Italian
Brother of Garibaldi's Army General
Precise origin unknown. Title tells small part of his story. After 20 years of missionary work in U.S.A. (Melb. Advocate 1.11.1879), he came to Melb., spending two years teaching theology at S.P.C., East Melb. and on parish work at Richmond. He left for San Francisco in 1880, voicing the complaint that "there wasn't enough work to do in Melbourne".
