Biographical Notes

Obituary. Rev. Father M. Dunne, Shepparton Advertiser, 11 March 1947, p 4, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article173893886:

The death occurred on Tuesday morning last week of Rev. Father Matthew Dunne, parish priest at Tatura. He had undergone a serious illness last year, but when in Bendigo recently for the consecration of Most Rev. Dr. Stewart he told friends he was feeling better than ever. His death, therefore, came as a surprise. Father Dunne was stationed in the parish of Tatura as a curate, and later went to Kerang, Beechworth and Rutherglen. Ten years ago he was appointed parish priest at Eaglehawk, and in 1945 he went back to Tatura as parish priest in succession to the late Very Rev. Archpriest O’Connell. He was a keen sportsman and took an interest in all local activities. He has a brother who is a priest in Western Australia. Requiem Mass was celebrated at Tatura on Thursday morning. The Bishop of Sandhurst (Most Rev. Dr. McCarthy) and the Coadjutor-Bishop (Most Rev. Dr. Stewart) and many priests from the Sandhurst Diocese attended.
