Father Conrad Winston, O.F.M., Returns to Ireland, Advocate, Melbourne, 22 March 1951, p 22, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article172517684:

Rev. Conrad (Michael) Winston, O.F.M., B.A., left Melbourne on March 2 on board the "Pioneer Lake" to return to Ireland, via Panama and Boston. After a short stay in Boston, U.S.A., to visit his two brothers, he will proceed to Ireland to take up work with the Irish Franciscan Province. Thus he brings to an end an apostolate of 25 years in many parts of Australia.

Back in 1926 Father Winston came to the Perth diocese fresh from Maynooth College, Ireland, where he had made his studies for the priesthood. For thirteen years he worked as a diocesan priest in Perth. He was attached for most of that period to St. Mary's Cathedral, although he also laboured at Kalgoorlie and at Subiaco, Perth. For eight years, 1928-1936, he was editor of the Record, diocesan weekly.

In 1939 he joined the Franciscan Order in Australia. After completing the novitiate year at Campbelltown, N.S.W., he taught Moral Theology and Canon Law at St. Paschal's College, Box Hill, from 1940-1945. During those years he was also an active worker in the Melbourne diocese. For three years, 1940-1943, he was spiritual director of the Catholic Evidence Guild, helping members of the guild and instructing the catechist classes. He was also chaplain to the Paraclete Arts' Group, and for six months in 1942 he conducted the "Question Box" on the Catholic Hour.

In 1945 he was transferred to Waverley, Sydney, and became editor of the Crusader. He remained in this post from 1945-1949. He was again an active worker in many diocesan works, for example, the Adult Instruction Centres, the Holy Name Society, Waverley, and the Legion of Mary groups.

1950 saw him back in Victoria, at "Greyfriars," Mornington, as professor of Moral Theology and Canon Law. In June, 1950, he attained his silver jubilee in the holy priesthood.
