Origin, education, and circumstances of coming unknown. CD's show Gladstone 1887 & 1888. He then shows up in Gunnedah under Bp. Eleazar Torregianni of Armidale, himself a Capuchin. Baptism dates supplied by Mgr. J. O'Connor of Gunnedah give April '90 to Jan. '91. Seemingly Borg then went to Tingha where he died on 6.7.1891.

T.W. Campbell, The Priests of the Diocese of Armidale: A Necrology, Braddon ACT, 2005:
Borg, Laurence Cajetan (OSFC)

Date and place of birth unknown, but probably 1826, Malta. Details of education unknown. Place of study unknown. Date and place of ordination unknown. Date of arrival in Australia unknown. A Gaetano Borg, a Maltese of the Capuchin Order, was in the North Queensland Vicariate at the time the Augustinians arrived to take responsibility. He is recorded in a history of Gladstone, Rockhampton diocese, as the first resident priest in that area, taking up duties in 1885. He lived in a room at the back of the original church in the community and is said to have stayed in the region until 1890. He then lived privately for a time in Cooktown with Joachim Guerrini, before moving south to the Armidale diocese. His name appears in the Baptism register at Gunnedah in the period April 1890 to January 1891. He died at Tingha on 6 July 1891, aged 65 years. He is buried in Tingha cemetery.
