He was born in Ille-et-Vilaine, France in 1832. He was professed a Marist and ordained in 1862. He arrived in New Caledonia in the following year, at the age of 31. He spent 53 years in this mission working in the north at Bonde, Pouebo and Belep, and also at St. Louis and in the district of Nakety-Canala. He died at Touho, his last mission, at the age of 84, after 54 years of Marist life.
