Valedictory.—The Rev. Father O'Keeffe was the recipient of a handsome purse of sovereigns last night. A number of the rev. gentleman's friends met at St. Patrick's at 8 p.m., and after the usual speech-making, Mr. Owen Mitchell made the presentation. Father O'Keeffe feelingly replied. Father O'Keeffe leaves Herberton by coach to-morrow for Cairns. He will spend a few days there, and will leave on Saturday for the south, sailing by the Orontes (Orient line) from Brisbane on the 22nd inst., direct for Rome via Naples. Father O'Keeffe, who for the past ten years has been connected with the Herberton district, informs us that he will ever have kind recollections of his warm friends in Herberton and will cherish fondly the souvenirs and tokens of the town and district, which he takes away home with him. During his long stay, his reverence has endeared himself to one and all, and we wish him, in his new home beyond the seas, the best of health and strength amongst his dearest and nearest relatives in County Kilkenny Ireland.
