Campbell, The Priests of the Diocese of Armidale: A Necrology, Braddon ACT, 2005: Born 20 February 1907 at Wee Waa. Educated at St Joseph's school, Wee Waa, then De La Salle College Armidale. Began studies at St Columba's College, Springwood February 1924 (four years), followed by St Patrick's College Manly (four years). Became Head Prefect at Manly. Ordained 30 November 1931 in Sydney by Apostolic Delegate Archbishop Cattaneo, Bishop O'Connor being then too ill, and Bishop Coleman overseas on an ad limina visit to Rome. Brief appointments to Narrabri, Armidale and Wee Waa followed, then a longer period as assistant priest, Glen Innes (to 1936). Other relatively brief appointments followed to Inverell, Wee Waa, Warialda, Walcha and Ashford, his first appointment as
parish priest being to Walgett (1946). Ill health forced his resignation from that parish after two years. Following a period of recuperation he accepted Bundarra, when he built the new school at Tingha (1952). In late 1952 he transferred to Warialda but in 1954 was again forced to resign the parish because of illness. He then retired to Nazareth House,
Tamworth, but soon found himself in Lewisham hospital for a prolonged period. His intention was to retire permanently to Armidale as soon as he recovered, but he died in Lewisham hospital on 29 January 1956. He is buried in Armidale cemetery.
