Biographical Notes

Riverina Recorder, Balranald NSW, 26 February 1890, p 2, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article137548757:

The Rev. Father Davern, who for some time past has officiated as Roman Catholic minister in this town, has been removed to Wilcannia; and will be succeeded by the Rev. Father Barry. Father Barry arrived at Wentworth (which town forms part of this charge) on the 15th inst., and celebrated mass at the church on the following morning. The "Advocate" says:—"Whilst regretting the loss which the Catholic community has sustained in the removal of Father Davern, who as a manager of church affairs has simply done wonders, we welcome Father Barry, who we are sure will be liked by his congregation."
