Biographical Notes

T.W. Campbell, The Priests of the Diocese of Armidale: A Necrology, Braddon ACT, 2005:
Dempsey, Patrick John

Born at Orange on 10 December 1880 he was educated at the Orange convent school and the Patrician Brothers College, Orange. He studied at St Columba's College Springwood and St Patrick's College Manly, and was ordained by Archbishop Michael Kelly in St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney on 8 December 1914. His first appointment was as assistant priest Leichhardt, following which he was transferred to Lithgow and then to Wollongong. According to Doody he was located in the Armidale diocese during 1920 (probably on loan between appointments at Lithgow and Wollongong). He was appointed parish priest of Rydalmere in 1925 and remained in that parish until he died on 1 October 1949. He was buried at Rookwood cemetery.
