Biographical Notes

Advocate, Melbourne, 25 February 1954, p 2, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article172537151:

The death occurred recently at Abbeydorney, Co. Kerry, of the Very Rev Denis Lenihan, parish priest of Abbeydorney. Father Lenihan was ordained in St. Patrick's College, Maynooth, in June 1900. After his ordination he came to Australia and spent ten years in the diocese of Ballarat before taking up duty in his native diocese of Kerry. A fellow-traveller to Australia was his life-long friend, Father John Kerin, who not long ago retired after an active ministry of more than fifty years in Ballarat. During Father Lenihan's ten years in Ballarat diocese he was stationed for some years at Koroit and later at Ararat as assistant priest. He was 79 years of age at the time of his death, which came suddenly to him in his presbytery. He had been parish priest of Abbeydorney for many years.
