McCabe, Thomas

Born: 30/6/1902 in South West Rocks, NSW.
Ordained: 20/12/1925 in Rome.
Ordained Bishop of Port Pirie: 12/3/1939 in Lismore, NSW. Enthroned at Peterborough 26/3/1939.
Appointed first Bishop of Wollongong in 1951.
Died: 14/9/1983.
Letter: Bishop's House, Peterborough, 23/7/1946
Dear Father Kineavy,
Before leaving Port Lincoln I forgot to obtain from you the amount of expenses for our trips to the various parts of the parish. Please let me know the amount and I will forward you cheque for the same.
For your guidance in future I would like to mention that those training the debutantes at Cummins should have been informed that in being presented to the Bishop, the debutantes do not courtesy but genuflect and kiss the Episcopal ring. I know the matter was an oversight but I mention it for the future help.
I hope that you were able to recover the car safely from the bog. With all good wishes,
Your devoted servant in Christ.
T. McCabe, Bishop of Port Augusta
.
