Biographical Notes

Brian Vincent Burke was born at home at Kangaroo Point in 1931, the youngest of ten children, to Bill and Bretha Burke. His early schooling at Kangaroo Point and later St. Lawrence's College led to an early entry to the Banyo Seminary where he completed his studies.
After his ordination on 29th June 1956 Brian undertook roles in many parishes, devoting his early life to the service of the Church. Brian served as an Army Chaplain, often saying this was the happiest time of his life. After his service in Vietnam, he moved to Canberra with his family where he taught Religious Studies at St. Edmund's College.
Brian returned to his beloved Brisbane on 1 January 2001 undertaking the role of Chaplain at Mount Olivet Hospital until his retirement in 2006.
In his last years Brian was beautifully cared for his Church, first at St. Vincent's Hospital and later at Mitchelton and Currimundi. These years were a time of reflection and well-deserved rest for Brian.
May he experience forever the joy and eternal peace of the Risen Lord.

Burke, Reverend Father Brian Vincent. 6th October 1931 - 11th January 2016. Dearly loved and missed by all his Family. A Requiem Mass for Father Burke will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St Vincent's Road, Banyo, on Tuesday, 19th January, 2016, commencing at 10 a.m., followed by Interment at Nudgee Cemetery.
