Patrick Martin Brady was born on 16 February 1923 in Rockhampton, the only child born to William Bernard Brady and Eileen Winifred Egan. He was educated at Silkstone State School, St. Gabriel's Convent School, Booval and St. Mary's Christian Brothers, Ipswich. His seminary education was at Pius XII Seminary, Banyo. Martin was ordained to the Priesthood on 25 July 1950 in St. Stephen's Cathedral. He served as an assistant priest in Kangaroo Point [1950-1956] and Wooloowin [1956-1960]. Father Brady was then appointed Parish Priest of Pomona in December 1960 until June 1968. He was then appointed Pastor of St. Augustine's Parish, Coolangatta until his retirement in February 1993. He continued to live on the Gold Coast at Bilinga where he died in his home in the early hours of Thursday 23 October 2003.
