Funeral brochure, 17 November 2016:
Terence (Terry) Madden was born in Liverpool in 1932, and was the second child in a family of 4 brothers and two sisters. His parents were Rose and Pat who emigrated from Ireland to Liverpool in search of better prospects for themselves and their children. Terry was educated at St Francis Xavier, Liverpool and at Montfort College, Ramsey, Hampshire. Having survived the war years, Terry went on to study for the priesthood, and was ordained at St Mary's Church, Stretton, Shropshire, on 12 March 1960 as a member of the De Montfort Order. As this Order is a missionary one he hoped to serve overseas. However, his Superior saw his potential as a teacher, and he excelled. As a priest he ministered in England, Scotland and USA. In England he was also a Chaplain to the Armed Services as a Civil Chaplain. In America, one of his duties was to attend to the busy Kennedy Airport.
In 1982, Terry was asked to go to Australia. He willingly accepted. He served in the parishes of Woodridge and Inala before going to Gordon Park, where he spent almost 25 year as the Parish Priest and Chaplain to The Prince Charles Hospital. Due to ill health, Terry retired in late 2014. He lived in Madonna Villa (Oxford Park) until his death on the evening of Wednesday 9 November 2016.
May he experience forever the joy and eternal peace of the Risen Lord.
