Record, Perth, 20 September 1888, p 7, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article212687120: The following kindly notice by a correspondent of the Victorian Express, of the Rev. P. Long and his labours in the Strawberry district, will be read with interest by the rev. gentleman's many well-wishers in this part of the colony:—Father Long is on a pastoral visit to this district. The rev. gentleman is successor to the Ven. Archdeacon Lecaille, who has but recently been appointed to the Vasse, and who passed here a short time ago for that district. Father Long said mass here on Tuesday morning, at Mr. Michael Fitzgerald's residence, at which there was the usual attendance. He will also celebrate mass at Milo, Mr. Edward Goodwin's homestead at Yarragadee, and at Gullewa, before he returns homeward to the Greenough. Father Long is comparatively speaking a young man, robust and hearty, which are qualifications so essential in carrying out the duties of a priest in a district necessitating fatigue and constant travelling in the saddle over a large area of uninhabited bush and sand plain and where camping out and other discomforts have to be met in travelling the wilds of Australia, scarcely understood by those residing in towns with surroundings of comfort and luxury. --- Greenough, The W.A. Record, Perth, 7 November 1889, p 8, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article212688253: From our own Correspondent. --- Vasse, Southern Times, Bunbury, 15 June 1891, p 3, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article164855535: The Rev. Father Long left the Vasse for his new sphere of labour at the Greenough by the s.s. South Australian on Saturday last much to the regret of all who knew him. Many went down to the steamer to bid the rev. gentleman farewell and the wish is general for his future health and well being. --- Vasse, Southern Times, Bunbury, 28 May 1892, p 3, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article167580510: During the past week two deaths have occurred of residents of the Augusta. On Friday last Mrs. W. Smith, a daughter of Mr. W. Warner of the Ludlow, died from epilepsy, and her body was brought into the Vasse for interment, the funeral service being read by the Rev. P. Long.
