Martin, Priests of 1928, Brisbane, 2003, p 68: Ben Chifley was the locomotive driver who became Prime Minister; Daniel Lee was the locomotive driver who became a Priest. On leaving school in Rockhampton, he had joined the Queensland railways and worked his way up through the grades from cleaner to fireman, to driver. Daniel Joseph Lee was ordained at St Patrick's College, Manly in November 1922 for the Rockhampton Diocese. Just how he comes to be in Brisbane in 1928 cannot be explained as he is listed as being in Blackall in the 1920s. Then he was Parish Priest at Yeppoon and latterly Chaplain at the Rockhampton Mater Hospital. He had been a priest for a little over 60 years when he died on 31st December 1982 and was buried in the North Rockhampton Cemetery. There was a Brisbane Fr Lee, Thomas, who died in 1919 and rests in the Warwick Cemetery.
