Father Nicholas Xavier OFM
21 February 1938 - 29 August 2024
Beloved son of John and Agnes Lucas (both deceased). Loving brother and brother-in-law of Luke and Jean, Helen and Vic (all deceased), Pip and Tony (deceased), Mary, Leo (deceased) and Ruth. Uncle and great uncle to their families. A Franciscan Friar since 1955, he was a well-respected and much-loved Priest for sixty years, especially serving the parishioners of Paddington and Waverley. He served as Director of the Come-In Centre from 1981 and then as Chairman of St Francis Social Services, as it became known, from 1996 to 2022.
Mass of Christian Burial for Father Nicholas Lucas OFM will be offered in Mary Immaculate Church, 45a Victoria Street, Waverley on Friday, September 6, 2024 commencing at 11.00am.
Following refreshments, the funeral will leave the church for the Franciscan section of the Roman Catholic Lawn of Macquarie Park Cemetery, corner of Delhi and Plassey Roads, North Ryde.
