F. O'Donohoe, a brother of the Very Rev. J. O'Donohoe, of Hamilton, took place at the Sacred Heart Church, Maitland-road, yesterday morning, and was largely attended by the priests of the diocese. --- T.W. Campbell, The Priests of the Diocese of Armidale: A Necrology, Braddon ACT, 2005: Date and place of birth unknown. Details of education unknown. Place of study unknown, but probably All Hallows. Date and place of ordination unknown. He was originally a priest of the Maitland diocese, brother of Joseph O'Donohoe of Hamilton, inspector of schools in the diocese (who died 11 January 1945). He was appointed to Wee Waa in December 1898 from the Maitland diocese in the hope a dimatic change would help his health. It did not. He died on 29 July 1900, aged only 33. At the request of his brother his remains were removed to Newcastle for burial at Sandgate cemetery. Five sisters were members of religious communities. Alternative spellings of his name are in various records, O'Donohue and O'Donoghue. (Reproduced by permission of Tom Campbell.) |
