Biographical Notes

Fr T.J. Linane, From Abel to Zundolovich, Vol. 2: Biographies of Priests on the Australian Scene up to 1900, 1980, p 124:

Daly, J.B., Irish
Baptist Lecturer Against the Church

The 'Sydney Evening News' of 8 July 1892 carries the account of a Baptist Minister being before the Court for the third time at Cootamundra charged with drunkenness. Verdict: fined £1, in default 7 days. The defendant claimed he was a Roman Catholic priest 14 years ago and that he was invited to the district by two prominent citizens to lecture against the evils of the Church. A report of his lectures is to be found in the 'Bathurst Advocate' (date not given). We have only Daly's word for it that he was a priest.
