Sherin, The Sydney Morning Herald, 3 April 1922, p 10, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article15996402: The authorities at St. Mary's Cathedral received a cablegram last week announcing the death of the Rev. Michael Sherin at St. Vincent's Hospital, Dublin. When he left Australia on leave of absence Father Sherin was parish priest at Naremburn. Coming to Sydney from Ireland shortly after his arrival, he was attached to the staff of the Roman Catholic Cathedral, and was for some time Archbishop Kelly's chaplain. He had charge of the St. Canice district, Darlinghurst, when he was appointed acting parish priest at Chatswood. The change to Naremburn followed. On the arrival of Archbishop Cerretti as Papal Delegate Father Sherin, who was esteemed for his amiability and his courtesy, acted as his chaplain and secretary until the Rev. Dr. Ormond came from New Zealand to fill the position. There will be a Requiem Mass at the Roman Catholic Church, Naremburn, at 10 o'clock to-day. |
