Biographical Notes

T.W. Campbell, The Priests of the Diocese of Armidale: A Necrology, Braddon ACT, 2005:
O'Hanlin, Patrick J

Born in Gunnedah in 1879, his father a police constable. The family lived also at Warialda, Quirindi and Narrabri where he was educated by the Sisters of Mercy. He studied at St Patrick's College, Manly. He was ordained by Bishop P J O'Connor in Armidale on 19 December 1903 with Francis Lloyd. It was said by O'Connor at the funeral that O'Hanlin and Lloyd were the first priests he personally had ordained, and the first priests ordained in Armidale, although Bishop Timothy O'Mahony also was said to have ordained John Davis in 1871 - see also the claim about William Parker. His first appointments were as assistant priest Tamworth, then Inverell. He was appointed to Wee Waa as parish priest (from 1907). He was highly respected. He died at Wee Waa on 5 May 1914, and was buried at Wee Waa.
