He was born in Loire, France in 1868. He was professed a Marist in 1891. After ordination in 1894, he sailed for Oceania aged 26, arriving in Vanuatu in 1894 aged 26. He was posted to Ambrym where he stayed for just 6 months due to a severe attack of typhoid. He was evacuated to New Caledonia and after recovery, went on to work for 17 years on Mouli Island, Ouvea. He then worked for a further 15 years on Belep. He died at St. Louis, aged 62.
