Biographical Notes

Fr T.J. Linane, From Abel to Zundolovich, Vol. 2: Biographies of Priests on the Australian Scene up to 1900, 1980, p 71:

Congreve, Abbot, OSB, English
Briefly in South Australia
The only reference the columnist has found is in the Melbourne Advocate of 24.11.1883, which states he had been in Gawler, South Aus. and moved to New Zealand. The Ramsgate (Eng.) Benedictines came to Gawler in 1876 and left to make a new foundation in Newton, New Zealand, in 1880, at the invitation of Archbishop Steins.
