Child Strangled, Mother Dies, The Courier-Mail, Brisbane, 3 June 1943, p 4, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article42048614:

The body of a female child with a towel wrapped around its neck was found by police in a wardrobe at the home of Mrs. Alice Martin, 39, of Stanley street, East Brisbane, following Mrs. Martin's death in the General Hospital on Monday night.
Post-mortem examinations revealed that Mrs. Martin died from septicaemia and the baby, from asphyxia by strangulation. Before she died Mrs. Martin told police of the recent unattended birth of her child. She became seriously ill on Monday. A blood transfusion at the hospital failed to save her.
