Hennessy, Michael

Born Cashingtown, Co Wexford, Ireland March 1849. Educated at Hogan's school, New Ross, Co Wexford. Studied at All Hallows. Ordained at All Hallows on 24 June 1875 for the Adelaide diocese. Departed Gravesend 2 August 1875 on the ship Yorkshire, which arrived in Melbourne 18 November 1875. He was located at Adelaide in 1876, Salisbury in 1877 and Mount Gambier in 1881. He unsuccessfully attempted to build a church in Mount Gambier. He appeared in the Armidale diocese at Narrabri July 1883 when registered for the performance of marriages. He transferred from Narrabri to Grafton in late 1884 or early 1885. The report of his death notes that, 'although ailing for the past two or three weeks, he died rather unexpectedly'.
