Biographical Notes

Bryan Rob Lee was born on 1 June 1929 in Toowoomba, one of two children born to Rob Lee and Mary Gertrude Collie. Fr Lee is survived by his sister Barbara Stellmach. His primary education was at St. Patrick's School, Mitchell, then Sacred Heart School, Cunnamulla, and secondary at Dovrnlands College, Toowoomba. His seminary education was at Pius XII Seminary, Banyo. Bryan was ordained to the Priesthood on 29 June 1954 in St. Stephen's Cathedral. He served as an assistant priest in Caboolture [1954-1955], The Cathedral [1955], Banyo [1955-1956], Maryborough [1956-1961] and Booval [1961-1963]. He served as Parish Priest of Murgon [1964-1968]. He was then appointed Parish Priest of Bulimba in July 1968, the position he held until his sudden death. During this time, Archbishop Rush appointed him as his Vicar for Religious [1974-1991]. Father Lee was also the Dean of the Brisbane East Deanery [1989-1997]. He died a few days after heart surgery on Sunday evening 17 February 2002 in Saint Andrew's Hospital, Brisbane. May he experience forever the joy and eternal peace of the Risen Lord.
