T.W. Campbell, The Priests of the Diocese of Armidale: A Necrology, Braddon ACT, 2005:
Henry, Leonard J

Born in Uralla on 29 June 1919 he was educated at St Joseph's school, Uralla and De La Salle College Armidale. He studied at St Columba's College, Springwood and St Patrick's College, and was ordained on 25 July 1944 in Armidale by Bishop John Coleman with John McKean and Robert Watson. While a student at Manly he came under the influence of Joseph Muset, the Spanish priest then on the seminary staff, a composer and musician who taught music at the College and took the choir. After ordination he took up duty in the Sydney archdiocese as assistant priest at Manly, was appointed a member of the staff of St Patrick's College, and formally was incardinated into the Archdiocese in 1946. He studied music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. In July 1946 he was sent to Rome for post graduate work in music, obtaining his Licentiate in Sacred Music. On return to Australia he spent some time in the Armidale diocese, but then went to Melbourne where he was assistant to Dr Percy Jones, Diocesan Director of Music in the Melbourne archdiocese. He also spent some time in Tasmania. Again he returned to Armidale, then resumed duty in Sydney, where he was Director of School Music within the Archdiocese. He was at one time in Caringbah, where his parish choir was successful in the City of Sydney Eisteddfodau. In 1967 he moved to the Mosman parish, where he died on 15 October 1968. He was buried in North Ryde cemetery (now known as Macquarie Park).
