T.W. Campbell, The Priests of the Diocese of Armidale: A Necrology, Braddon ACT, 2005:
Kavanagh, Thomas (Fr Bernard) (OSFC)

Possibly born in Blackburn, England, date unknown. Education details unknown. He entered the Capuchins on 4 April 1869. On 30 October 1875 he transferred from the English Province to the Irish Custody. The circumstances of his recruitment for the Diocese of Armidale are not known, nor the date of his arrival in the diocese. He worked for a time in Emmaville (1884), then Bingara. In 1885 he was at Tenterfield, but was again in Bingara in March 1886. He possibly was in Gunnedah in 1887. In February 1889 he was based in Tamworth. According to Foley he was known for his 'intensely red beard and his no less fiery temper'. His subsequent movements after leaving the diocese are unknown. The date and place of his death are unknown (but possibly he died on 13 October 1889). Place of burial unknown.
