Father James McDade, parish priest of Grenfell, who died in St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, on Monday, December 13, after an illness of two months, was born in 1877 in Glasgow, Scotland, and was educated in Glasgow, Mount Mellery, Ireland, and Rome. He was ordained in Rome in 1906 at the age of 29 years, and after working for four years in England arrived in Goulburn in 1910. He was assistant priest in the parishes of Young, Junee, Grenfell, Goulburn, Braidwood, Bega and Cootamundra; was Pastor of the parishes of Adelong, Araluen, Bribbaree and Grenfell, to which latter parish he was appointed as parish priest in February, 1935.
