Biographical Notes

Fr T.J. Linane, From Abel to Zundolovich, Vol. 2: Biographies of Priests on the Australian Scene up to 1900, 1980, p 138:

Dengel, Christian, SJ, Austrian
Brief Service in South Australia and Melbourne
This mature missioner was born in 1818 and before coming to Sevenhill in September 1861 had worked in the USA. He returned to Austria in 1864 but later on, according to an 1881 Directory, was on the staff at Xavier College, Kew. The name doesn't appear in later Directories, so presumably the second stay was also a short one. Fr. Henry Johnston SJ has supplied a death date; 27 September 1892 at Wien-Lainz in Austria, the age being 74 (circa).
