b. Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford 1838; ed. St. Peter's Coll., Wexford, and All Hallows, and St. Sulpice, Paris; Professor in All Hallows; arr. Vic. on collecting tour with Father Patrick Delaney for All Hallows. Netted £4000. Both chose to stay. Barry gave long service at St. Kilian's Bendigo, efficiently managing the Backhaus Estate, and, among other activities building the Strathfieldsaye Orphanage. d. 28.6.1916; age 78; golden jubilee; buried Bendigo Cemetery.
