First Melbourne Priest to Own an American Type Buggy
b. St. Finbar's Cork 1841; ed. All Hallows; ord. 1864; Adm. at St. Francis' Melbourne 1864-72. Staged donkey races in Botanical Gardens to raise church funds. Built St. Augustine's Church, Bourke St. Lover of choirs and music. At loggerheads with authorities, so left for Ireland in disgust and with a doctor's letter. Death date in Ireland not traced.
