Born Priestown, Clonmel, Ireland 7 March 1882. Educated at the National School, Tooraneena, then at Mount Melleray. Studied at St John's College, Waterford. Ordained for the diocese of Waterford on 17 June 1906. Loaned to the Armidale diocese he travelled on the ss Suevic, and arrived in Armidale on 17 January 1907, and never left, celebrating 50 years in the diocese. Assigned initially to the cathedral, he then served in Bingara, Narrabri, and Quirindi, his first appointment as parish priest being to Barraba when it was established as a separate parish. He remained in Barraba for 17 years. He then transferred to Uralla, where he spent 14 years, then finally to Inverell, from September 1949. He died in Inverell on 18 September 1957. He was buried in Inverell. He was the oldest and most senior of the priests of the diocese at the time of his death. He was a substantial financial supporter of the training of priests.
