Biographical Notes

Fr T.J. Linane, From Abel to Zundolovich, Vol. 2: Biographies of Priests on the Australian Scene up to 1900, 1980, p 30:

Casey, Colman J., Irish
Wilcannia-Forbes Servant

Probably this is the only priest buried in the western town of Nyngan. Details of origin, education and ordination are missing, but he appears on the scene at Broken Hill in the early days of Bishop John Dunne's regime. That was in 1892. After a stay in Broken Hill he gave service in Bourke (1899) (1901), which at that time was possibly linked with Nyngan where Casey seemed to have lived for a brief period. The circumstances of his early death at the age of 34 on 11 February 1901 are unknown.
