Tipperary, Ireland, on 28th September 1868. He was educated at the local school at Ardmayle, Cashel before embarking on seminary studies. These were undertaken first at Mt Melleray and then at All Hallows. He was ordained from there for the Brisbane Archdiocese on 24th June 1893. He arrived in Brisbane in October 1893, and as a priest of that Archdiocese subsequently served in the following places: Assistant Priest, Warwick (1893-1895); Brisbane (1896); acting Parish Priest Goondiwindi (1897-1899); Assistant Priest Bundaberg (1900-1904); Parish Priest Roma (1905-1918); Allora (1919-1920); Beaudesert (1921-1933) and Wynnum (1933-1940). While at Roma he built a convent and a school. He also built a church at Wallumbilla for 450 pounds (opened free of debt on 29th June, 1913). He retired from active ministry in 1940 and for the last three years of his life lived at Scarborough. He died in the Mater Hospital and was buried in the Nudgee Cemetery. He is listed in Pugh's as being in Goondiwindi in 1895, Warwick 1896-1897, Goondiwindi 1898-1909 then Roma 1909-1910, these dates do conflict but would tend to hold with the references from Brisbane.
