Boyle, Peter H., Irish
First Pastor of Frankston, Melbourne Archdiocese
b. Co. Longford; ed. CW; arr. Melb. on 'Orizaba' in Oct. 1886, the year of his ordination. Served as assistant at Gordon and Nth. Melb. before he was given charge of the new Frankston mission. He remained from 1891-4 and was then compelled to resign on account of ill-health. He then served as assistant in many parishes, including St. Kilda West, St. Francis', Clifton Hill, Nth. Fitzroy, Essendon. Probably he had charge of Footscray from '99 to '09. CD 1904 shows Carlton as his station. Then came temporary charges at Gisborne (CD 1906), Williamstown (CD 1909) and Collingwood. Worldly possessions were moderate: £529 according to his Will, when he died on 11.11.1909 at the age of 48 (circa). Burial: M.G.C.(Carlton).
