The Reverend Father Lewis, Roman Catholic chaplain at Featherston Camp, who died yesterday from influenza, was born in County Kildare, Ireland, about 26 years ago, and was educated at St. Kierns [Kieran's] College, Kilkenny. In April last he came to New Zealand and was stationed at Masterton until a fortnight ago. He possessed a sympathetic and genial nature and created a favourable impression wherever he went. He was a nephew of the late Reverend Father Lewis, of Thorndon parish.
