Fr Louis Belteau d. 1885
Samoa
He was born in Loire-Atlantique, France in 1823. He was a deacon when he joined the Society, being professed a Marist in 1859. After ordination he arrived in Samoa in 1861, at the age of 38. He worked in Samoa for 15 years at Toapaipai, Lotofaga and Safata before ill health forced him to return to France, in 1874. He was chaplain to the Marist Brothers for a number of years before his death at the age of 62.
