Biographical Notes

T.W. Campbell, The Priests of the Diocese of Armidale: A Necrology, Braddon ACT, 2005:
Reade, William Francis

Born on 15 January 1835, Kilkenny, Ireland, he studied for the priesthood at Maynooth, was sent to Rome in 1865, and was ordained at St John Lateran, Rome in June 1868, exact date unknown. He then returned to Ireland and worked in Dublin for six years. He volunteered for the Armidale diocese, arriving July 1874, and was attached for a time at Inverell. He was then transferred to Grafton, and served also at Lismore, serving the Tweed/Richmond area. He remained in the Grafton (later Lismore) diocese after its establishment in 1887, established a mission at Bowraville, serving the Bellinger and Nambucca River areas. His final appointment was to Palmer's Island in 1892. He retired because of ill health in January 1906 to Waverley, where he lived quietly until his death on 8 July 1910. He was buried at Waverley cemetery.

Reid, W

A Rev W Reid is listed in one source as having been located at Inverell in 1878 or 1879. This priest probably was William Francis Reade.
