Martin, Priests of 1928, Brisbane, 2003, p 138: Equipped with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Henry Ryan arrived in the Archdiocese in 1918 following ordination in All Hallows, Dublin. Previously he had been at Mt Melleray as seemed to be the custom. He spent two years in Toowoomba, then was on loan to Rockhampton diocese, working in Blackall from 1921-1926. Other appointments followed: Ipswich Road 1927-1928, Coorparoo 1929-1933, Cavendish Rd 1934-1937, South Brisbane and lastly as Parish Priest of St Anne's, Kalinga for 22 years, from 1938-1960. Fr Ryan seems to have been a bit of a mystery man, quiet and retiring, and a devoted pastor. He died in the Mater Hospital on 8th November 1960. Over 100 priests attended the Requiem Mass at the Cathedral. The funeral proceeded to Nudgee Cemetery.
